The process of obtaining the driving licence in Morocco The system could soon undergo a major change. The National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) is preparing a new regulatory framework aimed at restructuring the candidate process.
At the heart of this reform is the separation between the theory test and practical driving trainingaccompanied by increased digitalization of administrative procedures for driving schools.
The Code as an essential preliminary step
According to the guidelines currently being studied, the candidate will have to pass the theory test for the Highway Code before starting practical training at driving school.
Once the driving hours are completed, he will have to proceed to a new appointment to take the final practical exam, thus establishing a clear distinction between the two stages.
A digital platform to modernize the sector
This project will be presented to industry professionals at a meeting between Benacer Boulaajoul, director of NARSA, and the Moroccan Federation of Instructors.
The discussions will also focus on the launch of a digital platform dedicated to driving schoolsallowing:
- Online appointment management
- Electronic submission of authorization requests
- The elimination of trips to registration centers
Technical aspects still under discussion
Some details still need to be clarified, including:
- The validity period of passing the theoretical exam
- The number of attempts allowed for the practical exam
These elements will be subject to consultations before the final adoption of the reform.
